  • New alt New battery same low voltage..

I just replaced my alt and battery because my voltage was running low figured I would do it anyways. Brand new ACDelco parts, and tested before they left the shop. Now my voltage is still running 12-13... Not COOL!

Anyone know if there is a common short I can check before I start ripping through the entire electrical system?

I already checked all lead wires to alt/batt/fuse box.

if i were you i would try increasing the size of the leads maybe use 8 gauge wiring for all of your grounds and such. If that doesn't work i have no idea. What kind of battery are you running. I highly recomend an optima yellow or red top battery. They are awesome batteries. Well good luck

Had a similar problem awhile back. Turns out I had a short in my alarm system. Constantly drawing current, until one day .... that frayed wire caught on fire. No, I didn't install the alarm system. Apparenty they just tapped right into a +12V wire under the dash.....and did a terrible job at that even. Why a fuse was not used... I have no clue. I'm lucky the whole damn car didn't go up in flames....

Anyway, I clipped the burnt wires and fixed the issue. Voltage problems solved and better then ever. Moral of the story, don't let chumps work on your car.

Can't say I know any "common" places for a short to pop up..... but that does sound like what the problem is....
