Lights out on radio controls on steering wheel

I dont know how many of you have the radio controls on your steering wheel but the right controls on mine the red led lights went out so only the left side is lite up :( How easy is this to fix?

That doesnt really help him. All the pic links are dead and it only goes as far as removing them. Depending on the year of your car, there are 2 control styles, the older, with slimmer buttons (I think 1998 or 1999) or the newer style, which has much fatter buttons. Removing the new style is easy, just pry them out gently, until you get to the harness. Then unplug it. If its the older style use whats written in teh FAQ to remove them. After that, the older style have a hex nut holding the circuit board in, the newer style its pressed and clipped in, I still havent been able to get it (circuit board) out without breaking it, but if its older style just remove the hex nut and then you need to do some soldering and replace the bulbs, if you dont know how to solder, your SOL. They are not just plug and play like other boards, they are permanently connected to teh PCB

Wow same thing happened to me (right side button), I have a 99 firebird. What's weird is that the lcd on my radio went out at the exact same time. Can anybody explain that?

my lights on my 94 bird are out on the steering wheel on about 3 of the buttons...it's been that way for years I've just never looked into replacing the lights because I couldn't figure out how to replace the lights.
About 2 years ago I replaced a lot of lights the door handle lights, 2nd gear start light, the 3 climate control lights, the entire rear tail lights and the sockets. Everything is working fine now except those steering wheel radio control lights, and the head light knob.
I have an aftermarket radio in the car now...so I donno if I'll ever get around to replacing those lights.

Is it possible to fix the lcd backlite on the monsoon, or should I just start shopping for an aftermarket radio?

If you replaced the SGS light, you should be able to handle SWC's, since the bulb is soldered on the SGS switch too (at least my ASR and foglight switch where).

It is possible but its a PITA, lots of soldering involved. And if they all went out at once, more than likely its a circuit problem, not the bulbs themselves, but it wouldnt hurt to try if your just planning on replacing it.
