  • Wire Harness q

Well, I finally took the plunge and bought my head unit! I just have a few questions with the wire harness. First off, I havn't plugged this in to test it because I wanted if I had everything already done.

I have all my positives and negiatives all connected... so check that off my check list.

    I have my ground grounded.

I have the antenna wire connected.

I am not sure on which one to put the positive wire (to the unit). Do I put it on the "battery/constant (12v+)" or the "ignition/switched (12v+)"? I figured it would be the constant, however the constant wire is yellow and the igition wire is red so I assumed I was wrong and put it on the red ignition switched wire. So what wire should the positive go on?

On the camaro wire harness, there is a wire for a "Dimmer" which is a orange wire with a white stripe. The corresponding wire (orange/white) is the "Illumination Lead" wire. Does the Illumination lead wire go on the Dimmer or another orange (just solid orange) wire which I believe is the Dash Light Illuminations wire?

Also, do I need to connect the "Memory back-up lead" or the "Bus power lead" wire? They have 3A and 15A Fuses on them. It says to connect them to the battery, but they arn't long enough. Any ideas?

    Thanks for your help!

    Re: Wire Harness q

just match colors, all colors correspond, and dont just use the head unit wiring harness, go to best buy or somewhere and buy the harness that will plug into the car's existing, all you have to do is crimp the 2 harnesses together to the corresponding colors then plug it in and BAM it works, and a lot better than guessing what the stock wire does
