ok well i know that i have had other post. and i ended up getting this http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/produ...&cm_keycode=67
    for my head unit.

now, i was looking on ebay for a cheap 10" sub and i liked this one http://cgi.ebay.com/SONY-XPLOD-XS-L1...QQcmdZViewItem

now will this amp work with it.
    http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-PYRAMID-PB23...QQcmdZViewItem

now, if i put the sub right in the middle of my box(where the hump is, not on the top) will that be ok? i don't want to get any kinda of other box. http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...7_125_full.jpg
like i said before, i'm not looking for a lot of sound, just a tinny bit, and a nice look.

now can i just hook the amp up to my sub and not my factory system

No offense, but that sub/amp are garbage. As I'm sure you were told when you bought your headunit.... you get what you pay for. I realize you're not looking to compete at any comps and not wanting to spend a lot of $$$, but do that headunit some justice.

Sony is not nearly as highly acclaimed in the car audio scene as they are elsewhere in the electronics industry. And Pyramid has ALWAYS made flea market dime-a-dozen trash since the beginning of time.lol:tdown: I strongly suggest moving to some different choices for your sweet ride. For a sub around that $$$: Kicker CVR, Alpine Type-S, JL W1, maybe the Rockford P2 or P3, and I think both JBL and Eclipse offer a model in that price range. For amps, Audiobahn and Hifonics have been the low price leaders with some quality behind them. As for which particular model number of sub/amp you should get.... they depend on each other. Take a look at each amp and see at what load it outputs the most power, (Example: 200W RMSx1@4ohms, 400W RMSx1@2ohms) then buy the version of subwoofer that will put that load on the amp. Read our Mod Encyc and this page from JL for more info on that:
    http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=145

As for mounting the sub in your rear seat delete box, I'm not sure how it's designed. Is the box totally sealed off from the rest of the cabin? How much internal air space would it give to the subwoofer? It's totally possible, but you just need to make sure the box it completely air tight. Also, note that you're not going to get the same volume out of the sub as you would if it was under the hatch. As with any subwoofer in any car, always louder as far to the rear as you can get it. If you're looking for a little bump, you might think about stepping up to a 12"...?

kools thanks for that info. see didnt even know what a good brand sub was. so now i know what to look for.

the inside of the box is not air tight. i do have a hatch in it since that is where the nitrous bottle is. here is a pic. the other side is just empty

does it have to be air tight. why can't i just put the sub threw the box?

It doesnt HAVE to be air-tight, but it does if you want to get the most out of your subs. Subs vibrate air in front of the speaker, as well as behind. If you don't seal the box, then some of the sound to come out of the front of the speaker will be cancelled out by the sound coming from behind. It's a difficult concept to picture... but it's true. If you're going to spend the money, then I figure, you might as well get the most out of it, so seal up the box the best you can.

You spent $500 on a head unit, and only wanna spend $100 on a woofer & sub?

You can go with a base tube. Under $150.
Also a loaded box for that price.

What kind of music do you listen to 80% of the time?
That will help in chooseing what you can get, or need.

I just spent 3 months researching subs & amps before I bought mine.
How much do you want to spend. Do you want basic base for your music, or thump to make noise?

P.S. With your hot car & you have been on this sight for some time, don't you have some buds that can look at your car first hand & tell you what will work?

alt. rock. i would like to spend between 100-150 at max. i only spent 400 on the unit. and i don't need to make me bounce. i would only like a little thump. this is mainly for show

no one does audio. we are all performance!

Re: ready for the sound for sure now

A 4 channel amp for a single sub is a waste, get either a mono or 2 channel. Mono that'll give you 250-300 RMS at 4 ohms, or a 2 channel that'll give you 120-150 RMS x2 at 4 ohms. That would be if you get that sony sub, which I'd go against, you can do much better, but it will do the job for you.

That headunit is a great choice though.

The sub won't necessarily sound like crap if you don't seal it, I'm in the same boat as you, I don't want to rattle the mirrors of cars next to me, I just want a little base... You can experiment... Install the sub where you want to get the best look, and then see what it sounds like. I doubt it'll sound that bad unsealed, but the better sealed the box is, the better and more firm the bass will sound. You can also experiment with the box to try and make latches or use some sort of rubber stripping to keep the hatch closed tight to seal it.

I also noticed that you said that half of the box was empty, maybe you could close off that empty half and seal it, and then you wouldn't have to worry about that part of it...

hey man i thought i was the only ebay geek here .... lol.... guess not.... what "96firebird311" recommended is decent stuff ...it'll atleast sound better than those "pyramids" and "sony explodes(yuk)" .....

what i recommended was mtx w/alpine type s which will cost you a total of $110 + $79 = $189 but i think you wanted something less than $150 ...i was really satisfied with my mtx-alpine setup that why i recommend you ......you could maybe think about it.... after all it's going into a camaro u know..... ;)
