I have a CDX-CA650X HU. It has RCA inputs on the back that i used an adapter to a miniplug to hook up to my m:robe(mp3) but i couldn't actually figure out how to activate it. I tried joining a carstereo forum but they were no help because they changed the subject and replies kept getting deleted by the admin.. does anyone here know?

Re: Using the RCAs on Sony Xplod HU
so i checked out your HU's manual online and found some info. the AV on the back is for TV/Video. so my guess to listen to the mp3 player using the AV hookup is to hook it up (which you have already done), press "SOURCE" until "TV" appears, then press "MODE" until "AUX" appears, then you should get the audio feed you need to play the music. not sure if that'll actually work. it'd be better if i had the chance to kinda play with the unit myself but try that and see if that works out.1994 Camaro 3.4 L V6
2.5\" Flowmaster 80 Series American Thunder Exhaust
SLP Cold Air Intake
Sony Head Unit
Pioneer Midranges
2 10\" Sony XPlod 1100 W Subs
Power Acoustiks 980 W Amp
http://www.cardomain.com/id/heartbeat_of_94

Re: Using the RCAs on Sony Xplod HU
what different sources are there when you are skipping through them? (ie "CD", etc...)1994 Camaro 3.4 L V6
2.5\" Flowmaster 80 Series American Thunder Exhaust
SLP Cold Air Intake
Sony Head Unit
Pioneer Midranges
2 10\" Sony XPlod 1100 W Subs
Power Acoustiks 980 W Amp
http://www.cardomain.com/id/heartbeat_of_94

Re: Using the RCAs on Sony Xplod HU
so you are hooking in with an AV cable correct? is it a mini-jack (headphone style jack) hooked into the mp3 player that turns into an AV cable jack? also...which of the AV cables do you have it connected to? and finally...last time i hooked my ipod shuffle up to do something similar to this on a home stereo system, i had to crank up the volume on the ipod and then turn the volume slightly up on the unit itself. so maybe its a volume issue? or have you tried cranking it? also, there are no different MODES after you enter the "CD" SOURCE correct (thats what i've gathered at least)?1994 Camaro 3.4 L V6
2.5\" Flowmaster 80 Series American Thunder Exhaust
SLP Cold Air Intake
Sony Head Unit
Pioneer Midranges
2 10\" Sony XPlod 1100 W Subs
Power Acoustiks 980 W Amp
http://www.cardomain.com/id/heartbeat_of_94

Re: Using the RCAs on Sony Xplod HU
I am using a stereo miniplug to AV cables. (red/white) it is plugged into the inputs on the back of the headunit. You are correct that there are no different modes in the "CD" source. And it's not a volume issue, becuase when i don't have a cd in the unit, i cannot select the "CD" source, and when i do have a cd in it, i can't switch to the inputs.
I'm going to keep messing with it, but so far i haven't had any success..
thanks for all the help.
