  • subthump stealth box ?

i have a '00 camaro that is my daily driver, so i really cant afford to lose the little bit of trunk space i do have (and my ttop holders) and i also dont want to take out the spare. that in mind, i really like the stealth boxes but would it sound stupid to just have the one sub on the drivers side?

    Re: subthump stealth box ?

The good thing about subs in a camaro is the hatch. I have a MTX 6000 12" powered by a cheap *** amp i got off the internet and it sounds great. I have a little box that sits right in the well. So it pretty much is the same as the stealth box. It doesnt rattle the trunk 2 much and the glass reflects the bass great. So to answer ur question no, it sounds fine. Although i have seen somewhere before this company that makes a custom flap (the thing that sits in between each plastic piece and flips over, whatever u call it). I think they made it for 2 10s or 2 12s. I'll look around and see if i can find it again. And heres another one that allows for storage of t-tops. Hope this helps

The millhouse box (the box that goes where the flap thing is) is no longer made by subthump. I really wanted that box, but I ordered the T-top box that you linked too instead.

ok none of these answered my question really. i want info on the Stealth box, the one that goes in pointless hole on the driver side http://www.subthump.com/acamarostealth.htm the question is will the bass sound strange b/c of the fact that it would be offset.

Nope. The frequencies that subwoofers produced are thought to be "omni directional". Meaning you cannot tell where they are coming from. Which is the main reason everyone can have them in the trunk and not have to worry about sound staging.

Stealth box is awesome and subthump FTW.

              Re: subthump stealth box ?

all factory subs in premium sound systems for every car i've ever been in are offset on one side or the other, they all sounded great, and some sounded aftermarket for sure. The stock bose system in the camaros, what i have, the bose sub takes that space in the drivers side, and the bass just sounds like it's coming from the back, which is proper staging for the bass in most cases anyway, and with the windows, it bounces all around, and is omni directional like said before.

those ebay boxes are poop. I've bought plenty of them in order to compare them and find out all their weaknesses. And if you end up with one of them, then I feel sorry for ya. That box does not have .5 cu.ft. I can tell by the way it's made. As for output, I would put an eD sub in a subthump stealth against ANY sub you could fit in that generic box any day of the week. I suppose if you are on a budget, I guess that one would be one option. Ya get what ya pay for and I think that applies here too. Just like I've never had $39 sub impress me either. Sure you save some cash but how far does that get you in the long run?

..... or $112....which really isin't too much more then the one you linked to. Please note that auction still has 3 days left and $25 s/h. Plus Mega's has more air space which is huge when we're talking about that little room. It's up to you, but like you said.... if you don't care....
