  • XM satellite radio installed!

yup, today i installed the xm satellite radio .... wow! so many channels so little time! .... i love it..... first i used the fm transmitter thing to see how clear it is ....it was clear but there was a little unclear w/some static noises....so, i went to radioshack and got a audio/video adapter jack and plugged it in the sat. receiver .. voila! crystal clear sound.... it was really easy to install to ......thanks to all who helped me and gave me support in THIS thread

My favorite channels (after only a hour of listening ) are 20, 21(KISS), 68 the heat (hiphop), dance channels AND comedy channels.... i love the comedy channels ......

    Here are some pics

    SAT antenna location

Then i ran the wire between hatch and the space between

Inside the weatherstripping so that it's not visible.......you can't see the wires that means i succeeded....

installed right behind the gear knob....

hey congrats.. the install looks good..
    glad u like it!

you may want to pull the antenna all the way to the back edge, instead of in the middle so that punk kids dont get any idea's of cutting the antenna... just safe practice..

Thanks! "StrtRacer98" i wanted to install it right at the edge but my owners manual said, " For best receptiion, place the xm antenna on the vehicle's metallic roof, at least 6" from any window or sunroof." why.......... so, that's the reason it's apart from both t-tops and rear glass. What's ur favorite channels?

          Re: XM satellite radio installed!

i actually dont use xm anymore, i used to.
i worked for best buy as an installer and installed these every day... over and over.
Had to fix the problems and diagnose them..

As i said in the other thread xm is more user friendly.. when we installed them we had to test them out and figure out how to work the unit to show the customer, walk them thru the controls and xm units were much easier to figure out and use.
          Good choice looks well...

and for the antenna.. im not sure what the point of the 6 inch thing is, my navigation system said that also i think it has something to do with the window reflecting signal away.

                      Re: XM satellite radio installed!

sirius hasnt invested as much money in ground repeaters as xm has, so you find have more drop outs around hills, buildings and trees than you do with xm.

                        Re: XM satellite radio installed!

Congrats on the XM. My channels are squizz (48) and Opie & Anthony (202).

My antenna did not stick the the fiberglass roof very well, so I keep it on the fender right next to the reg ant. This also keeps other signals from trumping my XM.
