replacing foam surrounding on sub?

i have an older jl 10w6 and the foam between the cone and the outiside of the sub is coming off. is there a way to replace it or have it redone? can i take it to an audio repair shop and they can re-foam it for me?

Yes, it can be done.... but you probably won't find anyone local to you that will do it. Also, its not really cost feasible on an old W6. Lastly, watch out for the W6's and their 6 ohm coils. Just something most people overlook.:)

i saw a refoam kit made for jl 10'' subs on ebay for 25 bucks so i bought it. anyone have any experiance with these?

i would just go buy another sub. some of that stuff can get pricey. you may be better off buying a new sub. idk how much your subs run but....

i have talked to others that bought the refoam and they said it worked out great, which im happy because im not about to throw away an almost perfect jl w6 woofer
from what i have read you basicly just take off all the old foam remove the very outside gasket, clean that off, and then glue the new foam on. Then glue the gasket back on

Damn 25 bucks? Wow. Well for that price.... it's worth a shot. Take your time during the switch. Do your best to make it perfectly centered. Thats gonna be the hardest part. But for 25 bucks its worth a shot.
