I am installing a radar detector. It goes on the inside windshield
next to the mirror on suction cups. Rather than take a long two conductor cable across the top of the windshield to the side post to the cigar lighter would it work to just tap into the wire that powers the
light on the inside mirror? I think it should work but I am not sure. Any ideas?????
if you get the right wires it should work, the only thing that would be questionable is if the fuse is big enough to support the detector without blowing
Don't forget the fuse is there to protect the wire. The wire is rated at a certain amount of amps. If you pop in a higher amperage fuse you run the risk of melting the wire, causing a short, or even a fire.
A radar detector uses so little energy that I thing you will be fine with your idea and the original fuse.
