  • Backseat speakers produce only weak bass?

    Hello!
Recently i decided im going to see why there doesnt seem to be any sound from my backseat speakers, the owner of my firebird before me apparently went and spent a great deal of cash to replace all the speakers with pioneer and the cd player with an Xplod XM ready system bla bal fancy i guess. Anyway i was lookin at the wiring and all i got was weak bass when it was turned on, both sides of the rear do this, there is absolutly no other sound coming from it. So i know they are connected but why isnt there any other noise and why is the bass so weak? I couldnt find any posts close to my problem but if there is just leave a link and ill see what they said otherwise please help! Its not critical all the other speakers work great, just need to fix this. I also tried twisting the copper wires and reinsterting them onto the contacts which just made that light static noise. Ideas anyone? Thanks! (98 Firebird)

    same thing happened to me...

Amp wire isnt power up enough. Not enough juice going to the speakers. if your deck has a "bass booster" option of button, TURN IT OFF it sends way too much power to the subs and nothing to the speakers. or get a much more powerful amp. I have stock monsoon speakers with panasonic deck, kenwood amp and JL subs...

i had my bass booster thing on and had the same problem. turn it off and PRESTO! now people think i have a sounsystem in my car that costs $1000s

Hey i have a 96 with the bose system, and i had that exact problem. The speakers in the back were replaced and they just put out weak bass. First off i don't know why it was just bass, but i replaced them with some bose speakers from an infinity, and they are rated at 2ohms, unlike the others, at 4ohms, so they are louder..still mostly just bass though still don't know why. BTW i have an aftermarket deck too..XPLOD also.

The monsoon/Bose systems naturally send most of there Mid Bass to the backseat speakers. There original purpose in the backseat were to act as the systems midbass. Just bypass the amp and run them directly off of your radio and they should bring out more of the high end sounds.
