  • Monsoon CD problem

I have a Monsoon CD/radio, the one with the graphic equalizer etc. 98 Firebird. The CD has been going down hill for some time. First it was very picky as to what CD's it wanted to play it would shoe E20 message on display . I put that down to age and probably the optical reader not being properly positioned to read the first track etc. Then it stopped pulling the CD's inside. It will eject a manually inserted one but does not play. The radio part is OK. I pulled the unit and took off the front facia (nice idea,so easy to come apart) The CD player is a stand alone unit somewhat like a PC CD unit without a drew unit and only connected by three screws and a small ribbon connector.

I need to get a replacement CD unit or get it fixed. I live outside the continental USA but would be happy to post the CD unit for repair to a reputable company. It would probably be easier to buy another CD player to fit inside if they sell them. Anyone know?

Looking for options. but I don't need 1000W, a bit old for that now

I could also completely go for a new head unit but

    1) What fits? I know I can get an adapter for the newer flush systems but what about the depth and height etc
    2) What about th GM connectors can you get an adapter? or is it re-terminate all the wires
    3) Will I have to change all the speakers in the car(10)

Sorry for the long post but missing my music:mad:

    Thanks

    Re: Monsoon CD problem

you could just buy a new cheap head unit at best buy or somewhere and they install it or you can just buy a stock radio off ebay my camaro originally had a stock cassette player i replaced it with a stock cd player the stock cassette players cost like 25-30 dollars on ebay. I would sell you mine but i destroyed it. LOL that was fun i could have used the money tho but the stress relief was so much better:banana:
