Not alot, and not alot... lol
Get the wiring crap from the store, or wire it yourself, and just pickup the dash kit if its not a 1.5din deck.

What you will get depending on what deck you choose is a lot more sound shaping control, eq settings etc..

I had mine installed at Circuit City. I would have done it myself, but I had heard that if done incorrectly I could have messed up my alarm. I paid $120 and that included everything, including installation. The only thing I provided was the HU, which I got for Christmas.

If you take your time, and get the right stuff odds of messing up your alarm are about as slim as getting flat tires from it. I mean you could leave a screw driver under a tire and then drive over it popping your tire, but unlikely.

A lot of sales guys say stupid stuff like that, but at least you know it was put in right. :)

Our fbodies are not so bad, not like some Cadillac's or Nissan's where you need to rewire the whole car, and in some cases even dump the factory amplifier(s) and speakers.

You got raped. And it pisses me off.

Monsoon or not... the f-bods are no different when it comes to installing headunits. Just switch them out like you would any other. Wiring harness, antenna adapter and dash kit. 40 bucks worth of supplies and 20 minutes of your time. Done. 120 freakin dollars.

2 hours!?!?!? Were you doing it blindfolded????!!?

If I had the socket wrench right next to me.... I could have the stock headunit out and disconnected in under 2 minutes easy.

                  Re: What do i need?

I do want want to add, that another thing that scared me out of doing it myself was my cousin. He installed a Alpine HU in his 99 Maro, and ever since he did his alarm does not work. He says he has checked the fuses and what not but now i know it didn't quit working from the install. That, and this being my first nice car,.. i previously owned a 97 sunfire,.. drove me into getting it installed at circuit city. If only I would have been a member on this site earlier, maybe I woulda saved a few $$$.:p
