  • Sony poweramp needs power connection location

I am trying to install a Sony poweramp and I have located it in the back of
the 2000 Camaro. I need to get a switched connection but cannot seem to find one. I tapped the yellow wire connected to the Monsoon Amp located near
the spare but it does not give enough power for the power light to light up.
Anyone have ideas about locating the right wire on that hidden amp in the
rear or another location? I sure don't want an unswitched connection so
directly to the battery is out.
    thanks
    Phil

You could always run it off the fuse for the stereo in the fuse block. That is switched I believe.

Re: Sony poweramp needs power connection location

Okay, I forgot to connect the on trigger wire so I was getting no power to the amp. So I connected the power and the trigger wire on the amp together and it powers up but the protection circuit light (red) lites and it does not power the speaker. Should I have connected the trigger wire for this poweramp to something else?
        Thanks

          Problem solved.

From my other posts U can see I was trying to add a sony
amp to the monsoon in order to power some woofers better.
I spent hours trying to get the amp wired etc only to figure out that the Amp was defective.
I solved the problem..I got two 6 X 9 three way coaxial speakers made by Alpine. the local custom installer took them out of a car to put in something else. They were almost new and I got them free. So, I ran the full range system from the hatch area to
the side of the back seat. I cut some and the 6X9's fit fine and the area that was open around the speakers was filled by the
liquid foam you get from Home Depot. It dries hard in 2 hours.
The speakers are very, very effecient and the bass and the mids
are great.I am using the Monsoon Amps too. These 6X9's are more efficient than the OEM 6.5" speakers in the front doors!
          That was a big surprise!
