  • Amp goes into protect when I give it gas?!?!?

I've been having this problem for a while now. Originally what happened was my hifonics 1500d started going into protection mode at high volumes. Then My car started to die and come back on when I hit the brakes and had it turned up. So I took out the amp for a couple of weeks, and reinstalled it. My gain is about halfway up, wired to 4 ohms(i used to have it wired at 1) and i have my sub level at +15 on my cd player. Its at a certain level of bass without cutting off until I hit the gas about 3/4 of the way down, then it gets louder for a second, then goes into protect. I need to figure out if this is an amplifier problem or an electrical problem with the car. I'm waiting to buy a new amp, but I cant do it until I make sure that it is in fact an amplifier problem. Anybody ever heard of this kind of thing happening?

it sounds like something could be wrong with ur alternator. do the headlights get brighter when u step on the gas too?

I have a new battery and my alternator was tested at autozone and is fine.

ah, Sounds like a inertially activated internal electrical anamoly. :D
          soryy, i'm aliitle buzzed...
Same thing happened to me. One of my set screws had rattled a little loose, and a stray copper strand off the power wire would short out on acceleration. easily fixed.
