I've been looking around for a new amp and its come down to 2 choices. Both make about the same power. Its gonna be either a RF 25 to life punch 150 http://www.cardomain.com/item/ROCPUNCH150
or a kenwood excelon kac-x812d http://www.crutchfield.com/S-6JnAqWX...d&i=113KACX812
the fosgate makes 978rms@4, and the kenwood makes 1000rms@1
anybody had any experience with either of these amps?
im running audiobahn aw1200's ported.
that 978 is an actual power number that amp will actually make that much power, if you dont have any kind of impedance rise from 4 ohms.
that kenwood and their "1000 watt" is bull. kenwood sucks and overrates everything, i would say that amp does 700 rms at most.
the excelon is cea compliant, so it really will do 1000rms. I feel the same way about kenwood equipment, but from what ive heard the excelon line is a whole different story. I'm leaning towards the kenwood, cuz its like 100 cheaper
kenwood amp. im a rockford hater. I have been through a few kenwoods. They overheat but my 4ch DEFFINITLY put out the power it promised. The excelon I havent tried but I hear lots better things about them then the one I had.
With a decent sub that takes 1000 watts rms you will notice very little difference by powering it at 700 or 600. It depends on the sub really. Just my opinion.
