does anyone know what amp would run 2 12" memphis M3 subs 400/800....

THe Alpine MRD-M1005 at 700watts rms at @2 ohms
    ------------or-----------
HIFONICS ZX-I 1006 1,000 WATT RMS 500 watts to each sub

im not sure which amp would be better because alpine is a better quality amp please leave your thoughts

I personally would go Alpine. I know my Rockford Fosgate is under rated, and I think Alpine are too, but I may be wrong. I've heard Hi-Fonics are over rated though, so you wouldn't get the full 500W to each sub (which you might not want, since they are only 400W RMS). Couple of Questions: What Ohm are your subs? DVC or single? And I assume the Hi-Fonics is 500W@2-Ohms (you didn't say which Ohm, but it's most likely 2).

yea that hifonics zues line is way overrated and will blow up on you. That alpine is a sweet *** amp. maybe wait til you can spend some more money and get the pdx1000 or whatever it is called.

i've had a few hifonics amps and i can't really vouch for the zeus line (had a few zeus amps and still currently have 2 working ones and i'm not using either right now). i'd say if you're going to go with hifonics, go with the brutus line or better. the brutus line is their bang-for-the-buck class d 1ohm stable mono block. otherwise i'd recommend generation xx line.

the zeus series? you're better off just cranking the volume on the deck.

a hypothetical sub will sound off at 120 db (hearing damage) with ~512 Wrms. in normal listening, you will be using less than 10 W!! i used to have a zapco 350wrms amp and infiniti 1230w 12" speaker, and i hit 129.4 dB. a guy with the same amp, and a soft top jeep and jl 8" w7 hit 134 db! if you want better bass, get a better speaker. imo, use one of your speakers and get a good 250-500wrms amp. adding the second speaker will only get you ~3 db. you'll get 95% of the sound for a lot less money, and more trunk space. imo, sealed box is the way to go.

as far as sound quality, class d is at the bottom. class a is the best. class d uses less power than class a, and will be showing up in car head units in about a year. it may sound better than current analog stereos, only because most have crappy dac.

                i'm getting this: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=295-404
they compare favorably to the jl w6 on paper, and they're highly regarded in home theatre subs. 110 db in a sealed box in a living room. only $160usd

so i finally made my decision to go with the 2-12" memphis M3's and the Alpine mrd-m1005 amp and to go on top of that a 1 fared stinger cap...the head unit im using is a alpine cda-9857 so that combo should sound pretty clean and loud..As for the box its a 2-12" camaro box im not sure how much airspace it has for each sub but its sealed and i want to make it ported so i would have to do some research

Leave it sealed, deeper bass. Deeper bass = people will hear you coming :)

Also good choice on the subs. I've used them before, and that's what I sell all the teenagers around here since one of our local audio shops closed down and they are the only Memphis carrier around here for something like 80 miles. So, I bought out their stock :naughty: Hopefully, when I am finished selling off all these amps and speakers I will have enough to do what I want to my car performance wise.

I thought I was going to be set for Christmas, but apparently parents don't trust that they are legit and won't buy them for their kids for the holiday. I guess I will turn to Ebay, but I can make so much more money selling them in person.
