    Re: In Dash DVD

Just took mine out. (sold the bird :() But it's not much harder to install then a regular ol' headunit. Had to find a spot for the brain..... (under driver's seat worked great). I may be selling here shortly if you're interested in one. Kenwood 815DVD with touchscreen abilities. Best part about this unit..... plays MP3 DVDs!!!!! Over 50 albums at CD quality on a single disc! VERY few can say that!

a cobra is not the best protection... against constant-on radar it MIGHT give you enough time to slow down, but with instant-on your gonna be screwed...
You can get a bel or whistler for the same price as many cobras and it offers much better protection

you cobra guys should check out www.radardetector.net forums... you'll understand why im dogging cobra if you read around there a bit..

it reads all the motorcycle cops, state troopers, and the local pigs around here. i've been pretty happy with it so far though. its saved my a$$ at least 4 times that i can remember. i have had 1 speeding ticket with it though. i was on my way back from panama city and it worked and went off, but i was like 2 car lengths from the 2 cops when it did. i was pissed. at least i know that they really did clock me though lol. i'm gonna get a bel pretty soon though. i was scared as hell that night, i was almost back in town( like 20 miles) and i had a 2 liter coke bottle almost completly filled with vodka and topped with coke. lol i didnt get searched, i could tell he wanted to though. haha

here is what i have. it's a screen inside of the head unit. i think it's 3.5 inches. but since my camaro is only a 2 seater it works perfect. not that i ever use it... i put it in, in aug. and the only time i use it is to show people. plus the camaro never comes out!!!

Thats the problem with cobras, they wont alert till your right on top of them... My x50 gives me way better warning than my old cobra did, i mean it is a high end detector but it really made me see how worthless and almost reckless it was to trust the cobra.

                          Re: In Dash DVD

i just picked up an alpine dva-9860 and focal polyglas v2 speakers. i haven't installed them yet. it should take a couple of hours (i'm not a pro), a little more because i'm angling the drivers - custom wood brackets etc.

the thing i like about the alpine is that it has a 24 bit dac, dvd-a, dvd mp3, cd-r. it also has video output, optical output, and lots of stuff i'll never use. i got it for $400 off, and $185 off the focals. if i want to watch a movie in the car, i'll skip the 7" screen and use a 15" lcd laptop. i watch all my movies on a 36" crt, or a 96" screen with a projector.
