  • car was broken into cd player got stole

my cd player got stole while I was at work so Im gonna replace it tomorrow but I don't want it to show I want it hidden so people will not see it any ideas.

I have 2 12inch subs and my amplifier is hidden at the bottom of the box so it dosen't show and my 12inch subs can't be taken out either because my pop trunk is disabled because I got remote start installed on my car

I need ideas fast because I will be back jamming my music tomorrow

You mean hidden like Secret Audio? or what? Best antitheft is stock cd player or tinted windows.

Mount it in the glove box. Or cut out your center console a bit and put it underneath the lid. Both of those places are very safe because you can lock them with a key.

My cd player in my 77 granada is mounted in the glove box, but not for security reasons, but it would have been a pain trying to cut out the woodgrain and removing the factory head unit in the dash.

EDIT: Also, why not get one with a detachable face. Stealing a cd player without the face is going to cost you just as much for the face as it would the entire unit, so nobody would want to steal it.

this is the funny thing it was a jvc cd player with the detachable faceplate I just didn't take it out like a dummy so they took the whole mf out my car

What I wanna do is where our cd players go is just have them make a delete plate for it then hide the cd player somewhere close where the average thief will not look so I can get close to it to change my cds whenever I want

maybe not a delete plate, but maybe a cubby so there isnt just a flat spot, and like others suggested, put your deck in the GB, or console.

panasonic has this thing where if u rip out the deck the wrong way...it throws a code and wont turn on. u have to go back to where u bought it, prove its urs, and they reset it..worth the extra money for piece of mind

they told me to bring it back tomorrow so I am and Im gonna raise hell plus I already paid and I still can't hear my music and my speedometer light isn't working now I can't wait till tomorrow

An alarm system with a visual LED blinking is usually enough to detour any thieves. Why even look in your car if the car next to it doesn't have any signs of an alarm system?
Beyond that, relocating the headunit would give the most protection..... but is probably more work then you're (or I) willing to do.
A detachable faceplate works well too. If a crook looks in the car and notices that the faceplate is removed.... he'll move on. But obviously only works if you take the faceplate off every single time you leave the car. Huge PITA IMO.
As baggedmaro stated, some headunit give the look that the faceplate has been removed even though it hasn't. That's probably you're best bet. I know some Sony's and Panasonic units just "black out", which doesn't do jack s#!t IMO. You need one that has none/hides the buttons and recesses in the dash slightly. Think Alpine made some like that once upon a time. Off the top of my head.....CDA-7998 and 7897?
