Ya sounds like this is a probably a 4ohm in bridged mode amp.. If you have 8ohm voice coil subs, you can run those in parallel and bridge the amp. If you have 2ohm you could run them series and bridge the amp, but if they are 4ohm, you are basically down to one or you can run both in stereo mode as you have them now.
Ya if you can get a make/model on the amp and the impedance on the subs that would be perfect. But from the sounds of it so far, I would just leave it the way it is, and get another amp later if you want a bit more.
