  • Fix for window motors

Saw this over at ftv6: http://www.autotrix.net/index.html

Has anyone tried this? It claims that you don't have to replace your window motor. Does it just up the power to the motor?

    Re: Fix for window motors

yeah basically it's just for the passenger window, it gets the voltage it was designed to run at, and normally doesn't quite get. Should last longer and be a bit quicker. I don't have it though, and don't have an intention of buying it.
keep in mind, it's cheaper to buy a new motor on ebay for $25.

        Re: Fix for window motors

i called up my local autozone and they told me it would be $96 to buy a window motor for my car. So ebay it was. $25 later, my window works and i'm happy.

          Re: Fix for window motors

Autozone near me has window motors for $54.99, and that's with a lifetime warranty. I thought of buying one from ebay, but if it burns out anytime soon I'll have to buy another one...and so on. I'll just spend the extra $$ and get one that's guaranteed and close to home.

As for the autotrix thing: I've never seen that before, but I'm thinking of buying it. My passenger window has been slow for years! It probably needs a new motor, but that wiring with a new motor must be awesome!

          Thanks!

            Re: Fix for window motors

Well if we could just figure out what all it includes and how it works you could probably do the autotrix fix a lot cheaper than $30.
When you replace the window motor does it roll up as fast as is shows in the video? Both my window motors are going slow esp. the passenger motor.

I alsow have the problem with on same subject. my pass side window some time stops working when pushing the button it moves littel and then stops I guess it's the motor. Is the motors from ebay for like 20-30$ ones any good?

                Re: Fix for window motors

Yes, our kit will allow the window to last longer, and work better. Several links have been added to the website along with customer testimonies. Fifty bucks is the cheapest I could make this kit with local vendors and we supply more than is nessasary in each kit as well as great instructions.
A local lifetime warranty on a window motor is easier dealt with than having to ship things back and forth. The optimum choice is to install our kit with a new motor, although many people have enjoyed the extended life and proper operation of their factory window motor there after.

I would advise not to buy those motors, i got em and here i am 3 months later with burned out motors, the windows go down fine, just comming back up, they barely do if they do. You get what you paid for. Although they are lifetime... looks like im *****ing out those people

Installed my new window motor with the autotrix fix worked great for a week then did a head/can swap. so the car sat for 2 weeks and now the damn window doesn't work. I really don't want to take the door panel of again. ARGG. makes me mad. I can even hear it click when I push the window switchs.

Looks like my d/s motor is going bad. Where did you buy yours from? Is it bolted on or will I need to drill out rivets?

                          Thanks...

I really don't see why, Door panels are simple. 2 minute job

When I first started working for best buy, all the other installers were just like " Oh wait till you get to do a camaro / firebird door panel, they are the hardest door panels to remove/re-install ever... blah blah blah"

They are simple, couldnt be much easier.

Don't know what they're talkin bout'.

                              Re: Fix for window motors

I've known about these guys for about a year now from over on LS1Tech.com. I've been dying to get the thing, but I've been waiting for them to make a passenger side autodown, and maybe an autoup for both sides, before I get one.

Here lately though, my passenger window is getting uber slow. I've already replaced the motor twice (yippie skippy I've got a lifetime warranty, doesn't change the fact that I hate doing the install). I might go ahead and get the "fix" soon.
