Video was done between 12am and 3am, at a nice crisp 65 degrees. The day before it was 95 outside and my window wouldn't even go all the way up without stopping. So far, it goes up all the way in the 90+ temps.

nikon, where the heck did you find those thermistors?
I thought i'd take a whack at this. Got my 8 month old broken motor out, got to the thermistor, took it to my local small electronics dealer and they didn't sell them and didn't know of a place that would. I tried calling a few radio shacks anyway, he had no idea what a thermistor was. I explained to him what it was and he said he couldn't think of anyone that would sell them... Now my window is apart and i can't fix it.

Some people have been known just to just soder anything across the terminals where the them switch was. Wire, strip of metal...

H/O. The thermistor regulates the resistance depending on the temperature. Why would we need one of them? Why not just wire directly to the motor? I could see perhaps if the motor may overheat, but I doubt that will happen from putting the window up once?!? Prolong usuage, yeah it'll be helpful but for just putting the window up or down once or twice, I'd say it isn't needed.

I found it at radioshack, you just gotta look through all the drawers with all the doohickys in em...they'll be one there....as for wiring a strip of metal across there...I guess you could do it...but you better buy an in-line fuse and wire that in...or risk that motor/wiring getting extremely hot/melting/fire.....

I went in for an autotrix kit last month because my passenger window was getting ridiculous. It's most definitely faster and woke up my stock window motor nicely. Installation wasn't bad either.

Window is still working fine. Seems like it may have slowed down very VERY slightly, but the motor was in use for a year or two before the install. Once the motor starts slowing down, there's a chance that you've waited too long.

How much is the autodown module, and do I need to do any more cutting? Cause I'm getting tired of that, and pulling that stupid door panel off.

                    Re: Fix for window motors

I'm so sick of the crappy window motors in the f-bodies. I replaced the driver's side window motor twice and passenger side once during the time I had my bird. And they were both still slow as hell when I sold the car.

Funny story. When I was shopping for an f-body, I test drove a (then brand new) 2000 Camaro from my local dealer. On the test drive, the first thing I noticed was there was some horrible engine whine coming from the stock Monsoon system. The sales guy is sitting in the passenger seat reassuring me that they'll get it taken care of. During the drive he rolls his window down. We get back to the dealership and park it a parking spot. He goes to roll up his window, and the thing get about half way up and stops. lol He presses it several times before giving up and getting out of the car. I mean, this car has 20 freakin miles on it and has significant electrical problems with it. WTF GM....

The autodown mod does require an install, and the extent of the cutting isnt much more than the original kit; there are actually less connections to wire in. It would not be fair for me to talk about links to websites and prices on here, but if you look hard enough you will find all the info you need to know!
