Unlock Factory Radio
*NOTE: By reading this post you agree to indemnify me and hold me harmless from any and all demands, liabilities, losses, costs and claims, including attorney's fees. If GM gets pissed at you or something It's not my fault. If you break your radio or your car catches fire it's not my fault. Nothing is my fault.
If you are not the first owner of your Camaro you may find that you can't use your stock radio & cd changer if the battery is unplugged. A red LED will flash on the deck and the screen will say 'LOC'. The first thing you should do is check your manual for the code in case the previous owner wrote it down for you. Chances are it won't be there, in which case these instructions will help:
1. Turn your car on or put it into Acc mode so the radio turns on and says 'LOC'.
2. Press the 2 and 3 buttons on the radio at the same time until a 2 or 3 digit code shows up on the screen. It will take about 8 seconds.
3. Write the code down!
4. Before the code disappears press the AM/FM button until a new 2 or 3 digit code shows up. It will also take about
8 seconds. If you miss it you may have to do step 2 again.
5. Write the code down after the first code.
6. You now have the whole code (code 1 + code 2.)
7. Use a phone to call 1-800-537-5140 and wait for a prompt.
8. Enter 202108 and press pound #.
9. Enter the whole code you got and press star *.
10. You should hear the 3 or 4 digit unlock code, write it down now!
11. Press the hour button to change the first 2 digits of the 3 or 4 digit unlock code. If the code you get on the phone starts with a 0 you do not need to enter it (3 digit code.)
12. Press the minute button to change the last 2 digits of the 3 or 4 digit unlock code.
13. Make sure the code is correct. I hear if it's entered wrong you will have to wait like an hour of the car running to enter it again.
14. Press the AM/FM button to confirm. If it's right it should say 'SEC' now you can press the power button to turn your radio on.
Congrats, you have just saved your self money as I'm pretty sure dealerships charge you for this same exact process. This worked on my 99 Camaro.
