Anyone here have a CB in their car? I'm hoping to get one, and am trying to think of ways to install the thing. I've got a few ideas, such as a bracket in the glovebox holding it up. I won't be using it on a daily basis (I will at first, of course, since it's a new toy), but for those long trips and such. So, any pics or ideas for an install?

    Re: CB Install

In my 1982 Camaro I installed it right under the center dash vents. It looked great in that location.

As for our style cars, possibly mount it to the side of the center console if there is enough clearance.

i use one in my car when i drive teh turnpike.. great for finding them bears along with my passport x50...

Since i so rarely use mine i just put it in the passenger seat next to me... I use a small antenna that i put on the passenger corner of the hood (closest to the windshield). I just use the magnet to hold the antenna, i dont want to drill any permanent mount for it. Plus, theres not many other places on our cars the magnet sticks to except the rear quarter panels, but theres no where flat enough there to stick the antenna.

Ya. I'm just going to put it right on top of the dash. Right above the radio there's just an empty spot, asking for a CB. Then I can run my wires all under my dash pad easily and be done with the thing. As for antenna, I was thinking a small window one. The one with a magnet on both sides, and that you can bend at the base. Then stick it on the passenger's side windshield and bend it so it's flush with the windshield.

              that antenna should work...

Just be aware if your not already, that the antenna is the biggest contributor to range with a cb. It doesnt matter if you have a cheapy walmart special cb or a very expensive cb, the antenna will determine the range and quality you get out of it. Just keep that in mind when purchasing your antenna.

Any recommendations on antennas then? Or any certain specs that I should keep an eye out for? I'm hoping to get the decent range/quality without looking like I'm trying to contact Mars.

head over to www.radardetector.net and check out the cb forum. If you take the time to register there and post or search in that section, someone will surely point you in the right direction. Tell them that you would like to get one that you can mount on the window like you said. Just let them know what you want and they should be able to help you out.
