  • Monsoon half dead

I have the monsoon in my 2000 Cam and the rear sail
speakers have quit...no hiss...nothing then they will sudden
go back on then off. When I turned the steering wheel a few
times it would go on and off. I removed the under panel
of the steering column but could not get to any wires. I have streering wheel controls. Has anyone had this problem?
The front speakers work all the time...the fader control has no affect.

why did you take off the column??? just take the head unit out and check the wires... also if its just the back ones check the wires to those back speakers as well.

I did check the head unit and used contact cleaner. Did nothing.
All rear speakers go off or on without notice. I do not believe
the physical connection to the speakers would be involved as both rear subs go off at the same time.

Sounds like a bad ground when you've got multiple speakers dying at the same time

so the door speakers don't have a problem... its just the back right???

Is it every speaker or just certain ones? I don't know the shape of your car (no offense) but for a 2000 model i wouldn't think it would be the headunit or speakers... so I'd check the ground as well.

The questiion is: where is the ground....how could it have gone bad. All the rear speakers are out...no hiss...nothing.

              Re: Monsoon half dead/// update

update, if I turn the fader all the way to the left their is about 1% output to rear speakers but that's it
Any ideas? Can't be a fuse.
