Why... yes they are. I could have swore I checked Kicker's website and it showed SVC... and now it doesn't. Damn it! Well regardless, a one single-channel amp is still highly recommended. Now you're just looking for the RMS output at 1 ohm and wiring as the pic above shows.
so confused.... ok, so. if i run w/ the 300.1's am i gonna be matching the subs up right? like i said, i'm just tryin to find an amp that'll adequately power these subs for a decent price. I like the whole idea of brick and mortar stores like I said cuz if something goes wrong, they're not goin anywhere and they'll be there to answer questions or warrenty it rather than spending money to ship it out and hassle w/ techsupport or customer service. online dealies just make me too nervous, especially cuz right now i need someone to guide me thru this every step of the way so i can learn.

If you stick with the 300.1s, you will be underpowering each sub 100 watts. Which is fine, but you can probably get 800 watts from one amp easily for the price of the two amps. And really, don't worry about buying car audio online. People do it every day. I've never used eBay, but there are other places such as WoofersEtc, Sonic Electronix, and Ikesound. I had no idea what I was doing when I first got my equipment, but its good to learn as you go. And we are here to answer any questions, unlike the people at retail stores who are just trying to sell you overpriced products.
So right now, you are looking for a mono-channel amp that does 800WRMS @ 1ohm. If you found an amp that you like that outputs more @ 1ohm, you're fine to buy it. If it does less, you will be underpowering the subs, but anything above 700WRMS @ 1ohm should be fine.
Also, just curious... How much did you spend on each of the 300.1s?

Not only could you get more power off a single amp, but please note all the other positives I listed way back on page 1 I believe.
Don't feel confused. Just buy a 1-channel amp (often called mono amp) that does the power you want at 1 ohm and is rated at RMS (not "peak" or "max"). Example in the Ebay link I gave you above. Look at how it shows the rated power out for that amp. Notice the @1ohm rating. Its easy man.:) Get the amp, and we'll worry about how to wire it up afterwards.

why does it matter if i wire it for 1 ohm or 4? it'd be easy to find an amp at 4 ohms. logic is telling me price...
I've been lookin around at all the different amps in that wattage range, and that hifonics you showed me was the only one that runs at 1 ohm. are there any other brands? i've just never heard of Hifonics b4 (then again, i rebuild engines, electronics are new to me) so i dont know if i can trust thier stuff to not die on me in 6 months... i'd rather go thru a PITA install and find a home for 2 amps rather than have one el-cheapo amp. if they're a good brand, i'll trust u guys tho.

Because the lower the load on the amp, the more power out. Take the Hifonics for example. It lists it's power output as follows:
-1 X 450W @ 4 OHMS
-1 X 900W @ 2 OHMS
-1 X 1200W @ 1 OHMS
Hifonics used to be one of the most respected names in car audio. SPL comp guys constantly used their equipment. But this was over 10 years ago. Still the same company, but I believe that's when maxxsonics bought them out. Flash forward to today and they're now producing amps aimed at the budget crowd. The amps are still well made and still output close to rated power. They're designed to be a great bang for the buck..... and thats just what they are. I wouldn't link you to an el' cheapo bargain bin amp man. Those Kicker amps have just a much chance for failure as the Hifonics. It's decent stuff.
