  • Speaker Replacement

My passenger sail panel speaker is blown as well is the front door speaker on the the passenger side. I've been putting off getting replacements for awhile now, and after browsing around on here I've come to understand I can buy replacements or aftermarket speakers. My quesiton is what should I do. I don't know how good the stock ones sound since mine are blown and I don't have an amp or plan on getting one. I just want my speakers to sound good and not blown. So I guess it sounds like I should get stock ones but I've noticed on ebay they are just as much as some aftermarket speakers. Are there any speakers to fit the sail panel or front door speaker without modification? Thanks for your input. Oh yeah, I'm gettin a new headunit, that is why I am asking and planning on updating my blown speakers.

    Re: Speaker Replacement

6.5" rounds ones will fit with no mods in all the stock speaker locations (except the very rear on the 6speaker setup). I had the same problem with my passenger's door speaker. Next day I found some cheapo Jensens' on sale at BestBuy for $20, so I picked them up. Haven't blown them yet, and with the bass turned down on my HU, I can crank the volume all the way with no distortion.

      Re: Speaker Replacement

Get some aftermarket coaxials for the door speakers, they should sound much better than stock. You won't really need to replace the rear speaker, but if you want you can move the driver's side door speaker to the passenger side rear. I'm not sure if it'll work, but I believe it should. Worth a shot.

I got Alpine 6X9...did some cutting in the sail plane area and installed them. They are very efficient with power but I took the
speaker cable from the speakers in the rear (that are full range)
and brought them up to connect with the 6X9's. I have gobs of bass plus high end too.

id say almost every aftermarket speaker is going to be an improvement over stock, just buy some cheap 6.5"s

are there any 6.5's that fit directly? I have the monsoon headunit but my car didn't have the monsoon amp or sub.

not exactly every aftermarket is better than stock. i had some pioneer 6.5" in my civic. the stock ones in my 'bird beat harder and took higher volumes much better than those aftermarkets.

if you NEED to replace, however, go with aftermarkets. make sure u know how they sound first.

exactly what I was thinking, I had some 6x9's in my 2000 malibu that sounded like crap compared to the stock ones.

Any good reccomendations for sail panel aftermarket speakers at a reasonable price.

howdy-that sounds kinda like what i'm possibly lookin to do-do you have any "do it yourself" tips for a old school guy like me thats admittedly a little intimidated by these "newer" cars? lookin to fit a couple of pioneers in either the middle spot(sail pannel/backseat) or in the very back spots(under the hatch)? thanks for any help/advice you could hook me up with-heavychevy383

it doesn't look like any of them frequent this forum much anymore so you probably won't get your answer from them.
