StrtRacer98 told you the correct way to do things and if you want to really get the best our of the system you should do that. You can get by with just a head unit and some speakers (if you want to replace them)... if you want to do some customizing, but it's not the best way to go.

I recommend you get a good headunit and put in some componets. Mine sounds awesome. I have a pioneer dvd player with eclipse componets all the way around..sound great.Plus aftermartket headunits are so easy to put in
all you are doing, is running new speaker wires to each of the 4 speakers in the car from the headunit, you can even leave the factory wiring in place so if u sell the car and put the monsoon back in its there.
