• Amp install questions

First off I am installing a Kenwood Excelon KAC-X40

    in a '99 camaro, I already have a panasonic CQ-VD6503U head unit
    http://www.crutchfield.com/S-xYyKAjc...00&I=133VD6503
and 2 pairs of polk db650 in the front and mid then the stock monsoons in the rear

#1, because the amp is a 4 channel amp with two sets of RCA inputs will I need 2 sets of patch cables?

2, is the monsoon speaker impedance 4 ohms?

3, Should I hook up the monsoons to the head unit, then power the other two pair from the amp, or should I wire the monsoons in parallel with one pair of the polks? if so the front or the mids?

4, Where do you all typically put the amps?

5, does it mater witch side I run the power wire?
K&N air filter, Whisper air lid, magnaflow LT1 cat back, and magnaflow high flow cat, pacesetter headers, silverstars

more to come soon
but for now im out of money

Not if you plan on not using any fader options on the head unit. You can run on set of RCA's and then install a Y splitter at the amp to accommodate the four inputs.

2, is the monsoon speaker impedance 4 ohms?

I don't thinks so... could be wrong. Monsoon stuff is phunky. However with the small size of the speaker and relatively small current draw, you shouldn't have a problem.

3, Should I hook up the monsoons to the head unit, then power the other two pair from the amp, or should I wire the monsoons in parallel with one pair of the polks? if so the front or the mids?

You know, with the Monsoons in the rear, I might just hook those to the head unit. They're so small and just going to fill anyway.

4, Where do you all typically put the amps?

Wherever it's secure with good air flow. Non-visible from outside the vehicle is always a good idea.

5, does it mater witch side I run the power wire?

Not really, but try to isolate your power wires from your signal wires to reduce the risk of EMI noise.

thx alot, also does it matter if my speaker wires are on the same side as my power wire?
