The security light came on in the dash. Before I take it into the dealership to have it looked at (they're the only ones that can do that apparently) I'm hoping someone out there might know what might be causing it. The car still locks and the alarm still works,I'm at a loss.

The resistor in the ignition key may be bad.
Try cleaning the key with a pencil eraser or some rubbing alcohol on a q-tip.
Do a search, this has been brought up numerous times.
Also Google VATS bypass.
