C'mon folks, advancing your timing by 1° is not going to burn a hole in your piston. SLP sells a module that does the same job.

      http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=63012

You are not going to feel a performance increase from 1° of advance. The difference you felt came from having your PCM disconnected.

I don't know what went wrong with your Jet module but you should have actually felt the difference from that.

        thanx funk,

hey while we're talkin bout my pos jet chip maybe u can enlighten me why not only did i not feel any improvement from the jet chip (in fact it made my car stutter and misfire and throw so many codes i had to remove it) any reason why it would do that? that 265 dollar pos cost me 120 bux more cuz a shop charged me for labor of taking it out (which infurriated me cuz i could have done it in 15 mins!!!) they never called to tell me what was wrong with my car otherwise i would have figured it out. I had a post asking how that could happen with my chip and 97rs said they didn't make a chip for an automatic 93 3.4 which i have and that they only sold ones for manuals... is this true? do i have a chip for an automatic? and if thats so would that cause such horrible problems? i was thinking bout givin that pos one more chance, since nobody wants to buy the stupid thing from me. grrr agrivated, plz help funk you are so knowledgeble!!! =)

          Re: Cheap Resistor Works!

I don't know why it would have acted up. There are 2 different part numbers, 19312 and 19313 depending on whether it's auto or manual. (add S to the end for stage 2 version) Did it act up immediately after installing it or did it run good at first? Do you have a link to your other thread?

Honestly I'm not quite sure why they would even need 2 different ones. The 93 still had the non-electronic version of the 4L60 so the PCM used in the auto and manual is the exact same service # 16172693. In 94 and 95 the auto cars used a different PCM than the manual so there I can understand needing a different module.

But anyway, I would definitely call Jet if you haven't already. I've read posts from a few others who had problems with their modules, some even years after they purchased it, and Jet would repair or replace the unit for free or a minimal charge.

I've been looking for a used one for a 94 manual just because I'd like to try one out but most of the ones I see are for the auto.

there are no chips as you cannot put a chip in the 3.4 computers. Sure there are some jet chip modules floating around though that you wire in. Are they the answer to 3.4 tuning. Nope. Do they work, well that is hit or miss. Most people I hear complain about them not working right and having long talks on the phone with JET tech support

He already has the module, he's just calling it a chip.

i got the correct chip, 19312 S for automatic. It did not act up immediately as in totally sabotage my car, but i could tell something wasnt right as soon as i put it in, the rpms were way too high and sounded raspy like never before, and the car felt slower. this leads me to believe that either the jet chip is defective or i installed it wrong?? (is that even possible, all i had to do was splice the wire and plug it in)

in regards to calling jet what do you think they could do to help me?

thanx for your patience i have been busy and unable to respond for a little while.

i hope that info helps a bit more, thanx

                        Re: Cheap Resistor Works!

Well I would explain to them what happened when you installed the module. As you said, it made your car run worse. I imagine they'll help you make sure it is the correct part # and installed the right way and if everything checks out then they should replace it under warranty.

It should be on your directions that came with the module.
