New steering wheel will it work with my stereo

I just picked up a new steering wheel with radio controls. I would like to use it with my alpine deck CDA-9855. If i pick up a Pac Swi-x would this work? My original wheel did not have controls on it. and it is a 2000 firebird if that matters.

I did and i read that post.... but it did not the use of the pac swi-x.

That product is so you can use your factory controls with an aftermarket radio...

If your car was wired for that steering wheel, with controls then it would work... but since your car wasnt, and it came with no steering wheel controls its not going to be compatible.

It MAY be possible, but definatley not going to be easy

Well thats not good. I already bought the pac swi-x unit. Looks like i will have to sell it. Thanks for the help.:wavey:

You should only have to add the wiring harness to the column. The under dash harness should be there hanging or tapped up where it would plug into the column harness. The column harness also includes the air bag column harness with the rotator that allows you to turn the steering wheel. It is one hardness when you have the steering wheel controls.

brian is correct...i just did this swap with a donor car ..its a lot of work ..you are going to need a whhel with the controls . a clock spring with the radio control harness and the interface to adapt the controls to your aftermarket radio and that needs to be programed when its all buttoned up..
