  • securityON + running=risky?

The security light is ON at all times when the car is ON. The Driver's manual says that the antitheft system is not working properly and the car may not be longer protected. JUST THAT. The dealer guy says a electronic thing must be replaced ASAP if I don't want to use a tow truck later. Is that true? or he just wants a customer more. Sometimes we do not do better if we use the chevy service dept. I remember they never fixed another problem that I fixed later. My point is that I don't want to spend 300 bucks right now. Should I do it?

Do it. My car had a problem with the security light and would randomly turn off. The problem seemed to have fixed itself when I changed all the fuses from another problem though. Try the fuses

How long your ride has been working OK since you changed the fuses?

about a year. I also sanded the contacts on my key with 400 grit to rough up the surface because I know that chip has little contacts built into it

                  Re: securityON + running=risky?

is there a way to disable the system? I have a viper alarm, and y-day the security light came on, for the first time ever i was stranded at a gas station for 5 min or so.

I just dont want that to happen again.
