94 camaro headlight

anyone know where to get a replacement headlight bulb for a 94 camaro? everywhere i look they only sell the entire housing with a bulb.

at lunchtime today i pulled the light and the bulb (they are removable, similar to a 9006 or 9007) to see if we had any at the shop. naturally they have to be unique. im about to take a 9006 or 9007 and grind the mounting flange down to fit, the electrical connector is the same...

suggestions or alternatives?

9005 and 9006 fit just fine. 9007 i believe is the dual filament design. you may not know it, but you're doing a sealed beam conversion.

say what? i tried 4 different 9006s (thinking that the other 3 would be different) and the mounting ring is just larger. and just how am i doing a sealed beam conversion? the bulb pops out just like a 98 and newer type, but theres no replacement bulb.

well the bulb's arent exactly made to be taken out of the housing you are supposed to buy the whole housing but since you pulled it out you can use 9006 for the low beam and a 9005 for ur high beam but when you go to put them back in you will have to epoxy them in or they will get moisture in them....there is a write up somewhere im sure

the bulbs come out just like a standard bulb of its type. theres an o-ring and some kind of grease to seal it to the housing. there is just no physical way a 9005, 9006, or 9007 bulb will fit without modifying the seat of the mounting ring. maybe i have a one off type of housing, i dont know. but theres no "just popping a 900x" bulb in there. ill have to take pics to elaborate on this situation.

Yeah, that's where the silicon comes in. There is technically no bulb in production that directly fits in the stock housings. You have to seal it with silicon if you want to replace just the bulb. (sealed beam conversion)
