Hey guys, I'm a newbie here. I have a 98 camaro 3.8, I just changed the alternator, it was fine for a day, but now it's not charging the battery. The gauge is sitting at just over 8. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I'd check connections, make sure wires and cables are not corroded

Wires and cables are good, I was wrong about the position of the gauge, it's in the red just enough for the check gauges light to come on.

if u put dead battery in it and thought alt would charge it, there is your problem and you might have killed it. test at alternator with dmm while running it shood be around 14.4v at alternator

Come on Tom, give me a little more credit than that lol. Turns out the alt was bad, I took it back tested it and got a new one, issue resolved. Thanks you to everyone that replied.
