I have searched and read lots of threads already and I am seeing mixed responses.
My question is a simple one. Will the SLP manual fan switch work right out of the box on my 1993 Firebird with a 3.4L engine?
I am looking for simple plug and play with this switch, no modifications needed.

The SLP is not "plug & play" as far as I'm concerned. It doesn't fit right. I "hacked" mine up and redid it. And getting it through the firewall is another issue.

Just tap into the relay in the fuse box. All you have to do is run a wire from a switch to the tab of the relay that has the number "87". When you flip on the switch, the fan will come on. You can use any kind of switch, just gotta run a power source to it from the cig lighter or something else you may prefer. Then run out from the switch to the relay.
I too have a 3.4 '93 Firebird, and my SLP fan switch was plug'n'play. Nothing to splice at all. If you take the computer out of its mounting bracket, theres a grommet underneath it where you can run the wires into the car. I cant remember though where I mounted the ground wire. I mounted my switch where the ashtray use to go. Since the V6's only have a single fan, when you turn on the switch, the fans will only run at one speed regardless of switch setting.
As LarryMow said, since the 3.4 only has a single fan, the 3-position switch can only turn it on or off. (on the 3.8 you can have one or both fans on)
I had no problems installing it, it plugs right up to the factory harness and the PCM grommet makes for an easy path to get inside the cabin. The wire is plenty long enough to go anywhere on the dash or console.

would you reccomend this for any 3.4 owner? or just for those in hotter climates or those who go to the track?
I would only recommend it if you go to the track a LOT. Turning on your A/C accomplishes the same thing. I think I used mine once in a year's time, turned around and sold it.
I have it on my car and am quite happy with it. My car ran a tad hot for my taste, its not "plug and play" per say but it's an easy install. As for a grommet every f-body 93-02 has a huge grommet on the passenger side behind the computer. Yes it will only do on-off-on for the 3.4 liter as someone stated there is only one fan. If your doing it for performance it's not worth it, but in the long run a cooler motor has more pep.
I have already ordered my SLP switch, but it has not arrived yet, so I have not seen the instructions.
On a 3.4L, where do I plug in the SLP harness? I know on the 3.8L it is on the right inner fender, but where is it on the 3.4? Does it plug into the back of the fan motor itself?
