  • Problem with a SES light anyone know why?

    Hey everyone,

I have some trouble with a SES light that will not stay off. I took it up to auto zone the other day and they told me that it was my #2 cooling fan. I disconnected my battery and checked all of my fuses and relays first. Whatever I did must have worked because the light went out. A few days later it came back on again I disconnected the battery and it went out again today when I was driving to my parents house it came back on when I got there I once again disconnected the battery and tried that, nothing happened this time and the light is on still. I changed out the relays but nothing happened. Anyone have a clue as to why this is happening? I’m trying NOT to take it to the dealer.

Also I keep going through headlights not sure why again any suggestions???

    Thanks again all

When you disconnect your battery it resets your ECM, therefor not knowing the problem yet, so thats why it goes off, but once it realizes you still have the problem it signals the light.

It will continue to do this until you fix the cooling fan or whatever the problem you are having is, and if you dont really know what your doing your probably going to have to go to a dealer / technician to have it fixed.

once you fix the problem it should go away.

or you can have the code cleared...

          Strtracer98,

The thing thats confusing me is that the light will stay off for days even weeks at times, But just comes back on. thats the weird thing about it.....

It probably doesn't notice until it trys to run the fan. I'm guessing it only gets hot enough to need it once in a while.

Does the fan run if you short out the fan relay? If not you probably need a new fan, if so you probably need a new relay.

Have it scanned when the light is on. Then give us the code and discription.
