Security light

I have a problem my security light on my dash stays on for no apparent reason. The only time it shuts off is when i leave the driver open for a extensive amount of time anyone have any clue what it can be.

I see your other thread says your oil light stays on all the time too....


In the past other members have had problems with multiple dash lights coming on and staying on, it happened to me and it was it was a bad ground under the hood...

You should check it just to rule that out.

On the battery side of the car on the fender well there is a ground location , should be a few wires going into it, take the ground off, clean it up a bit and re-fasten

Or, try cleaning your ignition key, the little chip towards the top with a pencil eraser and see if that fixes the problem

that cant be it.. he said his light goes off after the oil warms up and creates more pressure, then the light will turn off next time he starts the car like that.. thats a bad sensor

No actually it says the only time it goes off is when the door is left open for an extensive amount of time.

It COULD be 100 Things...

That oil light will go out if you turn the key to where the radio comes on, then turn it off, then on again. You don't have to start the engine to make it go out. The "Low Oil" light doesn't come on for low pressure.

The security light stays on until I open the door for a long time then it shuts off when i close the driver door it takes about 10 seconds just for the security light to turn back on.
