Uhmmm... in my 02 it looks like the alt wire is like.. straight to my battery. It's bigger than an 8 guage too.. I never changed it and I've had it since 20 miles were on the odometer. Is this weird?

Straight to the battery is the problem - that's stock and it is 8AWG.

I'm just confused then because there are 2 wires on the alternator.. One is small as hell that's got like a plug end on it and one is larger with a boot on it like the wires to the coils going to the positive post on the battery. Which one is this kit suppose to be changing?
i wouldnt change just one wire i would do the complete "BIG THREE UPGRADE"...but i can say for me was the starter wire and alt to battery that made a huge difference....however keep in mind that some guys go from alt to the red box....and others go alt to straight battery....so that is up to u....ive had both(now i relocated the battery) and neither gave me issues.
the battery(ground) to chassis...that is to the RIGHT/LOWER of the battery if in front of ur car looking at it....or alteast that is where mine is at
dude thats a great site.... i've done the zzp rewire kit that goes from the alt to the red box, and now id like to do the other two. On my car (also a 3.4) it looks like there is a wire going from the battery negative to another post just above where the red box is on the fenderwell.... is this the batt to chassis ground? if so it will be easy to upgrade. Finally i read that article and it gave me an idea.... all i have to do to upgrade the block to chassis ground is find a ground on the chassis or drill a hole and then connect the wire to my alternators mounting bracket correct? since it takes the path of least resistence i wont even have to find the other wire.

If you have re-routed the Alt wire directly to the "red box", the Batt to ground "upgrade" is worthless as the Batt is not really part of the "primary circuit". Just do the chassis-to-engine.
oh so by routing it away from the battery i took it out of the equation? how does that work....
and so for chassis to engine i can simply get a wire, plop it on one of the alternator bracket bolts and hook it up anywhere on the chassis?
Wheres the best spot on the chassis to hook it up if i put the other end on the alternator bracket bolt? is there a ground close by to that i can use?
Hey guys. For starters I’ve always been a big car guy, I love all types of cars and can appreciate all types of engineering. I’ve always been a Chevy...
