  • Hidden Power Wire

I have a Sirius Satellite Radio in my Firebird. I have taken the time to expertly hide all of the wires except for the power wire which plugs into the cigarette lighter outlet.

Well today I took care of that. I bought a 12v outlet and I wired it underneath the console. The draw on the power wire is well under 5 amps so I tapped into the center console light wire which is hot all of the time. That wire runs off of a 15 amp circuit, plenty of power for my needs.

All said and done, now you cannot see any wires for my satellite radio, everything is either behind the dash or under the console.

    :)

    Happy New Year Everyone!!!

I remember when I was younger (I am 35 now) that I was very good with wiring but I never took the time to tidy it up. Now I enjoy making neatness a part of the job. When I wired up the SLP Fan Switch I also took extra time there to tuck all of the wires away nice and neat. In the long run it pays off, as it looks so much nicer.

nice job, i have XM in my camaro with all the wires hidden from view as well. i have my inno mounted i a way that it appears as stock as possible (in front of the shifter, beside the cig lighter), with none of the wires visible. where did you stick the antenna? i have mine hidden inside the rear spoiler. im not sure if you can do that with a sirius antenna,as most reviews ive read and people i know have reported dropout problems with their reception

I have the antenna mounted on the upper portion of the dash. The wire runs up the defroster vent and only about 1" of wire is exposed. The way that the windshied is laid back so much provides for excellent reception.

nice, i had mine like that for a while. just decided to have everything hidden as to not tempt some jerk to break in my car.

Good idea. I find that since I have the satellite radio, I very rarely listen to the regular FM radio. I have had it for about 1 year and it is really great.

I stopped listening to radio when I got my subs. You loose all of the bass. I plug my phone into the aux port and listen to Pandora (pandora.com) I love it and listen to it with my bluetooth headphones at work. FYI it is an internet streaming song site.
