Ok, so my car is making a very very loud noise from the Alternator, its been doing it for 2 weeks but now its louder then ever. I need/want the AC delco Alternator. I want it fast as possible but GM parts direct states it takes 7-10 business days to get?! wtf? i checked Rockauto and they sell acdelco Alternator but its for a 3rd gen... partsamerica.com doesnt even sell them...... Anyone know the best aftermarket one if im forced to get one? Or anyone know where i can get a brand new acdelco? i do not want a remanufactured Alternator... i have 97 firebird

Re: Where to get ACdelco Alternator???
If you want it quik & cheap just carry it to your local Starternator Shop and let them build it. $60 vs $120 for the Reman one.
IMHO, you can't beat the ones from Advance/The Zone, places W/"Lifetime Warranty" FTW
And it takes all of 30 minutes to change.
What do you have against Reman? They put in new bearings, new regulator, and new brushes AND give you a lifetime warranty.2002 Navy Blue Metallic Blue Firebird A4

Blue02: I heard remanufactured ones are hit and miss... i remember Blldog stating long time ago they suck, but a remanufactured AC/Delco is the best to go with. I think you are right im just gonna pick one up at Advance with warranty. I just need to get it in this weekend thats all. thanks for the responses!

Re: Where to get ACdelco Alternator???
I've probably gone through 4 alternators in the past 2 years. All from Advance Auto parts. Their remanufactured alternators suck, for me at least. They only seem to last a few months, then they start to fail by cutting in an out narrowly leaving me stranded. Every one I've taken back to them to have swapped out (at least there's a warranty) has been verified to be dead. They put it on the test machine, and it barely puts out any voltage. I HIGHLY advise against going to Advanced, try Napa or Autozone if you have any around you. There's nothing wrong with remanufactured parts, it just comes down to how well their built. Which from what I can tell, Advanced Auto's aren't built very well.1995 Pontiac Firebird || 3.4L V6

Re: Where to get ACdelco Alternator???
yeah, i picked up a duralast remanufactured one @ autozone, after i told the clerk i wanted a brand new one.. Didnt realize it was remanufactured until i was in the parking lot. luckly i did pay for the remanufactured one.. Screw it, so i installed it in my car anyway, and i still have a noise, but not as loud..
my ac/delco put out 14.95V on idle, this stupid duralast puts out 14.75.. i guess i will live with it.... i dont understand though, before i put the remanufactured one in, i spun the pulley and i could hear it squeek, same thing with my ac/delco... i guess i have a lemon, but it better last me... it has a warranty on it.

Re: Where to get ACdelco Alternator???
A higher voltage will just end up boiling more water out of your battery over time, and will shorten the life of the battery. 14.75v is plenty.2002 Navy Blue Metallic Blue Firebird A4

**update**
so after replacing that alt i was still getting that squeeky noise, well ive been driving it that way for a week now. Thought maybe i could work on it this weekend to find out exactly where its coming from, well it turns out it was my tensionor. It kind of melted and froze up had to pull off the road, got a new tensioner and im gtg, no more squeeks
