tail light bulbs

whats the difference between the 3157 and the 3057 bulbs?

my tail light brake bulb was out, so i just put a 3157 in there.. is that ok, or is there some reason why i shouldnt do that

Isn't the 3157 just a slightly higher wattage? I may be incorrect here.

no idea.. i just looked, the connectors were the same, and they were both 12v, so i used it

3057 - 26.88/6.72 Watts 2.10/0.48 Amps
3157 - 27/8.3 Watts 2.10/0.59 Amps

Both are 12.8/14.0V S-8 Auto Bulb with D.F. Plastic Wedge Base (diameter 1", length 2.1").

The 3157 has a brighter second filament which draws 0.11 Amps more current.

thanks ill take a look at it when its dark out, ill probably end up getting the right bulb

2 watts won't be noticeable and your not going to blow anything up running a tenth of an amp more.

Wow, according to that link... low beam headlight rated life =320hrs ... High Beam = 150 hrs FTL
