if my car has the factory alarm system, does that mean it can use a key less remote?

Re: keyless remote (add on)
IIRC all 4th gens have the LED on the dashpad, whether it was equipped with the system or not.
One way to know, is if you unlock the car from the driver door with the key, on stock, settings, you will have 8 seconds to get the key in the ignition and turn it to "ON," or the alarm will sound. Of course, this is something you can turn off, so take it for what it's worth.
Another check is for the shock sensor, which is stuck to the back of the right rear wheel well by the spare under the panel.
If you call up a dealer with your vin, they can tell you for sure if your car had the system. I believe it's one of the letters in the last 8 digits, but I couldn't tell you which.
