Havent posted in forever, but im bored and i thought others might like to hear my experience with doing a sealed beam conversion.
I had trouble with my headlights going out. Passenger side light went out, I replaced it with a whole new glass enclosed fixture. One year later, same light goes out. I drive with it for while because I didnt feel like paying the 25-$30 to replace it. Then about 2 weeks later my driver side light went out. O these are both low beams by the way, high beams are fine. So i decided to do some research and heard about doing a seald beam conversion (i.e. just changing the bulb though you're not supposed to) rather than replacing the whole fixture.
-It was fairly easy
-Saved me 20-30$
-Got higher performance bulbs
I got 2 silverstars from pep-boys for $45 with a $15 mail-in rebate, so $30. I also saw a post on here about ulsing bulb grease, i assume this means dielectric grease, so I covered the electrical connections in that. The silicone I used was a red hi-temp, and I used plenty. Since I installed them (about a month) they have not gone out and I have driven in the snow and on some fairly rough roads. Which brings me to my next thing, my cars lowered and rides fairly rough, anyone think that could be "rattling" my lights out?
well that took up some good time maybe ill start posting more, i really need some new pics up, hopefully in the spring/summer.
Hope it helps somebody, cya
