  • Under Hood Lighting

I recently have been doing alot to my car with LEDs, mostly interior stuff with 5k mcd 3mm blues. I just purchased some of those really bright 20K mcd 5mm white LEDs cuz I am going to be doing the interior lights and the license plate lighting with them.

Was wondering if anyone here has ever done any custom lighting for under the hood with these babies, I figure you space out a good bit of them and it should be like daylight under there  Maybe hook em up to a mercury switch or a pin switch or something, what yall think??

You can go with 3 watt LEDS will take alot less but costs more. You could easily mount a switch if you wanted, either manual or automated one when you open the hood . I have replaced most of the lights on the inside of my car with red leds. I like the look but is harder to find stuff at night.

Sweet, yea, just mount a little toggle switch somewhere under there, probably just do that. Do you have a link or something for those 3 watt LEDs at all??

So Crunk, what were the rating of those LEDs you used?? Is the light your getting with them not enough to do anything work wise say at night?

Here is one place that sells them and has info, they have up to 5 watt LEDS. They are very bright, alot of flashlights use them. You can also find them on e-bay a bit cheaper.

                      those blues look sweet...

as per Kevin01's suggestion, I think I am going to be ordering 4-5 of those 3 watt Luxeon white LED's... the LXHL-PW09's on this page... http://www.theledlight.com/highdome_3watt.html

just need to figure out how to wire them, probably very similar to standard LEDs...

                      Those suckers are BRIGHT!!
