  • removing cig lighter and console on a 96

Ok...I see walk throughs for 99+ but not for 93-97. I have a 96 camaro and I need to remove the entire cig lighter and replace it...as well as splice into it to hook up another one cig lighter. How do I get the console off so I can get back there...I know there is a screw where the tape thing is, and in the console part...but what else do I have to do to get it off? Then how does the cig lighter come out?

    Thanks,

    Mike.

For standards its pretty straight forward. I just put shifter in reverse, unscrew bolts in the console area under the lid and I rmove screw in front area. O yea pull ebrake all the way up. As far as lighter there is a plug in the back and other than that its suppose to stay in console as you remove it. If you twist and pull it should come out, mine did.

Don't forget to take the fuse out! Yah I did the same thing but I didn't unskrew anything, the plastic piece the cig lighter is on pops right out, there's clips on the top and bottom. Just be carefull not to snap any of them.
