I did the sylania silverstar headlight upgrade last summer on my 94 Camaro. It was great while they lasted. Now my passenger side headlight is out and I'm looking at another 25 bucks to replace the bulb. Seems ridiculous for such an expensive bulb to blow so soon.
they will prlly give you some excuse like you touched the bulb or something
but how bright are these lights?
how do they compare to a regular sylvania bulb?
i have the cool blues in my lows right now, and i was thinking of putting the silverstars in my highs, but i dont want to waste money if its not going to make a difference
They didn't come with some type of warranty or anything, because it looks to me with such expense for them they would offer like a 6 month warranty or something. I would definitely write those people and tell them whats going on and what you thought about it. They may send you a free coupon to pick one up.
they improved your vision at night...maybe not enough to merit their high price tag. They look nicer than the the blue bulbs and I'm sure they light better.
I didn't get a warranty...I got them off ebay. I'm thinking about just replacing both headlights back to stock. Anyone know where they sell the stock 93-97 headlights (in Canada)?
I think Sylvanias in general suck, at least for Fbodies. I buy the regular Sylvania bulbs and they burn out about every 6 months. I put Silverstars in my old Ford Escort which my sister drives now, and they have been in there for almost 2 years now and are still good.
Hell, they only lasted about 7 months for me, and I didn't see any difference between them and stock. I ended up installing HIDs and wish I would have done it sooner.
Mine lasted over 3yrs in my 99. One only went out because I took it out to switch sides.
When it was put over to the other side there was no light, I put it back and it was a gonner.

Canadian tire...$50 a pop...gotta do what I do now...my headlights only seem to last me like 6 months, so what I do is I take out the burnt one, go back to Canadian tire and say it I bought this like a few months back and it burnt out already...there really good, you dont need a receipt...you could probably do it with your burnt out bulb right now if they carry it...
It rattles me how I have to pay $50 a light and they burn out every 6 months...and its the only OEM type light I can buy unless I break open the seal and replace my own light...so this is my fix lol
yeah, i did the conversion. I took extra care to not touch the bulb and put a good amount of silicone around the base of the bulb...I highly doubt it wasn't sealed good enough.
Anyway, I knocked the headlight the other day and the light came back on. It went out again after that, but I knocked it again and since then it hasen't gone out. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
Thanks for the Canadian Tire tip Letzride, only I bought the bulbs from ebay. I could probably still get away with it, but wouldn't feel right about it.

Just saying for when and if you do buy bulbs and/or go back to stock lights...since it sucks to spend $50 every few months when it shouldnt be like that...
if you tap it and it goes on/off, then there might be a loose wire. Make sure the connectors are on tight, pins, pushed in all the way, and no wires punched/corroded.
Haven’t done anything on the Camaro, but put LEDs on my truck headlights . And my oil pressure sensor went out on the truck so going to fix that this...
