  • HID 6000k kit

I just got my 9006 6000k HID kit, looks pretty straight forward. I'll be sealing up some headlights tonight. Any tips on the install?

Putting these in your 96 I'm guessing? Have fun having people mad at you because they're too bright :P. And yes, pics are required :). Where'd you get the kit and how much? I'm thinking of doing a set to my fogs, that way it's lower so people won't be AS mad :P

It is on my 96' , got them off ebay for something like $65 shipped, I have my probeam headlight covers I'm going to leave on, so they shouldn't be too bright(but who cares I've been blinded so many times from stock vehicles with bright lights). As long as I can see better, I'll be good to go. I just tested them and one of the lights don't work, so I hope the replacement comes quick (might of been my fault on that one), I'll admit it.LOL

I think you'll like the way they work. It's raining here and the rain performance is worth it all in itself. lights up every line so there's no trying to make out lanes when the rain's pouring and puddles are easily distinguishable from farther away.

Link to the ebayer? If they turn out good on yours, I may have to get a set :) Put the other bulb in, so we can get like a before/after kinda thing; left side before, right side is after or something similar.

I messed up the other bulb too, f#ck, so I ordered some replacement bulbs, these bulbs are pretty sensitive. I shouldn't of been messing with them after I took all my meds last night. Had some shaking hands and was dopped up = blown bulb.LOL I hope the new ones get here quick, they were I think $35 shipped. Lesson learned.

What bulb # did you order for the fog lights? I think I might do those too, they look real good with the headlights.

                        Re: HID 6000k kit

It does look fantastic. VERY clear. Been loving mine myself on the Bird. At least you didn't get the attempted HID surmon. Too bright, too high, too low, too this or that, guess I've been a biker too long to worry about the masses. Bike has one too! Have fun with them and wait till you see the lines in the road just glow. That is definately B__. A__.

Yea, I'm just waiting for the replacement bulbs for the 9006's. Then I'm going to do the fogs. Do you know if I can keep my RK sport plastic fog light covers on the fog lights when I put in the HID's or would it melt the plastic covers? I've had them on there for about 10 years, got tired of broken fog lights. Thanks, Steve

They won't melt the covers. As far as I can tell and have read, HIDs burn at a rate of 35W, which is much lower than 55W of regulars. The wattage (unfortunately I'm a little out of practice) is the measure of the amount of work (current X voltage) to burn the filament, which somehow is proportional to the heat that they emit. The lower wattage should be cooler (though touching probably won't tell that). I know to ignite them, it takes about 20 amps, after that they run on about 3 amps.
