  • A/C issues

I currently have no air (hot or cold) blowing through the vents. I've checked for blown fuses and I got nothing. When I turned the ignition, I could hear the fan motor turning and when I turn the switch through the different positions I can hear a change in speed. About a minute later, the motor dies. and then out of the blue it wil start up briefly and die again while I'm driving. So now I figure that least the switch and resistors are good. Could it just be the blower motor needs to be replaced or is there something else I'm not seeing? Any info would be appreciated...

It almost sounds like the fan fell off of the motor. If you can hear the motor running but there is no air coming out, the fan must have detached itself somehow.

well it could also be a stuck fan on the motor, the motor gets too hot and shuts itself off. as far as nothing coming out of the vents its possible that there could be a vacuum leak coming to or going from the ac controls. that whole selector switch from the ac to the vents and defrost is a vacuum controlled switch.

Took out the motor and he fan was attached. I did see a big wad of paper stuck between the fan and motor housing. Now, a new issue: air comes out the vents for a little while and then fades. After that, it goes on and off intermittently. Not sure if the motor needs to be replaced.... or could a possible vacuum leak be causing this issue...any ideas?

Haven't checked but I don't think that's the problem. It starts out cold and I can fell a little right on the vent. The issue is that no air (hot or cold) is coming out for certain periods of time and then it will just come on again repeating this cycle.

Did you bench test the motor with 12 volts while you had it out?

That's a pretty damned good idea.... don't know why I didn't think of that. I'll give it a shot and see what happens. Thanks.

Might be the compressor is out.
