can i turn on parking lights without headlights coming up

i want to be able to turn my parking lights on without my headlights coming up.. the only time i was able to do this was when my pass side headlight motor went.. is there a way to make it so the parking lights go on and headlights stay down?

If you notice there are 3 positions of the headlight switch. First is off all the way turned left. Then if you turn it once "here it click" should be pointing up, that is where you will turn on all lights except head lights. Then turn it one more time and the head lights will come up. You probably just turn the head lights on so fast that you don't realize there are 3 positions, I didn't for a while. Try it out.

well whenever i put it in the second position the headlights come up but dont turn on. is there something wrong with my car or is that normal? i dont want the headlights to come up when i do that

There is something wrong with your car. The headlights should not come up with you select the parking lights.

its a 96.. any ideas for a fix?

Who replaced the headlight motor? That's probably the problem. The limit switches are FUBAR.

my mechanic did but they still went up with the parking lights before the headlight motor went

Same thing happens on my '97....only thing I ever did was change to brass headlight gears...other than that its a stock motor....
