  • Intercooler Options for Firebird

I have an 2002 Pontiac Firebird and prepping a turbo or s/c setup... either way I want to run an intercooler, however; I've come to realise that if I mount an Air/Air IC on my car, it wont get enough air to be of any use because there's no grille. I don't want to cut the bird emblem out of my car or make any cosmetic body modifications. What are my options? I was thinking of an Air/Water intercooler but dont they require a additional radiator? How do those work?

Air to water will take up space and cost 2-3 times more, I would just do front mount there are pictures around of setups. Thats just my opinon though.

Just get a small Air to Air and mount it like Blizzard did. That kit was set up horozontally infront of the guard peice under the car. Just make sure you dont overdue it with the boost, from what i understand those 26/7/3 in intercoolers arent supposed to take more than like 400hp or sumthin.

I know it looks ungodly low in that pic but it's not bad. Check out my other pics where the car is actually on the ground.

Fondle , that intercooler will fit right in between the frame rails up front after you remove the front bumper support. Mine did and its 33 X 12 X 4, I did have to grind alittle on mine now that I remember.

Frame will be the same ,since its the same platform.

there is a set up that uses 2 small intercoolers mounted flat in both front corners but cant remember who makes it.

Stock springs on mine. But I swear the damn thing drives and feels lowered. Sits lower than my other car too.. So that's why I'm confused as well. Worn springs? eh.
